Reiki Teacher

How to Become One

When you decide your path is to follow that of a Reiki Teacher, it is a path you must take with fervent respect and seriousness. Your own purpose for life must be in harmony with Reiki in order to serve your clients best.

If you wear your spirituality on your sleeve and can take it or leave it. I suggest you leave it.

Teaching Reiki is not a way to get rich quick. A thriving Reiki Practice is built one by one, step by step. Serious word of mouth advertising without appearing to be commercial is the usual path.

Most Reiki Masters are humble servants. If the person you want to learn from seems to be too worried about money. Interview others. Trust your gut to guide you to the right person.

Steps to Becoming a Reiki Teacher

In order to become a Reiki Teacher, it is advisable that you seek out the training of a Traditionalist specializing in Usui Reiki.  Later on, you can add other classes to enhance your Reiki Practice.

The Steps are as follows:

  • Reiki I Attunemant- This course will provide you with the ability to work with Reiki.  You will learn the hand positions while giving a complete Reiki Treatment.
  • Reiki II Attunemant- You will receive the Reiki symbols to study and learn along with more history and practice with the use of Reiki and the symbols that strengthen you.  Your strength will increase with the way you use Reiki.  Also you may be introduced to your Spirit Guides (Guardian Angels).
  • Advanced Reiki Training- Some will take this course after receiving Reiki II, but I would suggest you learn this before moving onto the Reiki Master course.  In Advanced Reiki Training the Attunement you receive increases your strength and abilities.  Some people learn the use of crystal and stones for augmenting their power.  Aura Work is normally done at this stage.  You will learn to clear the auras of people that have negative psychic energy among other items of interest.
  •  Reiki III or Reiki Master Training- Concentration is focused on the Reiki Symbols with emphasis on more Reiki Shares so that you may practice with the new attunement you receive as a new Reiki Master.  You may then teach if desired.

Developing a Reiki Practice

After taking the Reiki Master Class you may desire to develop a private practice where you see clients on a regular basis for a fee.  This should never be done with haste or as a way to get rich quick.  There are Reiki Masters who have developed a large following and do make enough money to fully support themselves.  But something like that takes time and the proper intention.

You will need to practice on others in order to grow your own Reiki power and have the ability to discern the newness of all that is happening to you.  Seek out groups of people who all practice together.  Many people refer to it as a Reiki Share which is where a group of Reiki Masters and Students meet and practice Reiki on each other.

If you are a believer in the Law of Attraction, you can make that work for you in your practice.  By staying positive and carrying a full belief in yourself that you will be a success will do more to get you there than you might think.

The definition of the Law of Attraction, in a nutshell, states that which is like unto itself is drawn.  There is no scientific proof that it exists.  Some argue that the power of positive thinking helps one to move forward with self-confidence that enables success.

So with the correct intention for your Reiki Practice to focus on the quality of customer service you give and not how to get rich from it will assist you in making the kind of money you want and deserve. Develop and maintain a positive mental attitude and follow through with top notch customer service and you will see your practice grow.  Couple that with a harmonic balance of the spiritual side of you and you will see miracles happen around you and to you.

Here are some tips for your new Reiki Practice:

  1. If able, rent a small office space for your Reiki Practice.
  2. Have business cards printed with your contact information.  If you are starting out in your home, only print your name and phone number to lessen the chance of people dropping in without an appointment.
  3. Create a mailing list via Yahoo or Google so that you may keep interested parties in your loop by sending out an interesting email once a week.
  4. Make sure you have at least one webpage where the Internet Community can find you.
  5. Develop a regular Reiki Share night with other Practitioners at your location.
  6. See if there is a Wholistic Paper in your area and see if they accept articles.
  7. Reach out to local groups as a guest speaker.
  8.  Volunteer at your local hospital to provide free Reiki Treatments for patients who are in need or dying or their families.
  9. Write your own materials for classes and sell them to the Internet Community.
  10. Most importantly, reach out to those around you.  If a coworker speaks of an ache or pain, introduce them to the healing Gift of Reiki by giving them a free treatment.

Whether you choose to use your Reiki Master gift on yourself and those around you or if you are thinking of becoming a Reiki Practitioner, always remember to respect the Gift of Reiki as it comes from God and will bless you in the end.
